• There is no extra cost for using Amazon Pharmacy services or for delivery.
• Blue Shield of California members with an Amazon Prime subscription get 2-day delivery. Members who do not have an Amazon Prime subscription can expect 5-day delivery. 
• Amazon Pharmacy does not deliver to P.O. boxes.

1. First, sign up for Amazon Pharmacy.
2. Once signed in, select “Add a prescription” at the top of the page.
3. Select “Share instructions with your prescriber”. This is the fastest and most effective option.
4. You’ll see details on where prescribers should send your prescriptions. You’ll find a few options on how to contact your prescribers:


   
   Fastest: Call your prescriber’s office. You should let them know you would like to have your medications sent to Amazon Pharmacy. Then give them these details:

You can also:

• Use your prescriber’s/medical group's online portal to send a message to your prescriber to provide them with these details.
• Wait for your next appointment to ask your prescriber to switch your prescriptions to Amazon Pharmacy.
• Use the Amazon Pharmacy transfer process.

Once your prescription is on file and ready to order, Amazon Pharmacy will notify you—then just visit your Pharmacy Dashboard, add the prescription medication to your cart, review your address and payment method, and you'll be able to place your order.

1. First, you will need to sign up for Amazon Pharmacy yourself.
2. Once signed into your Amazon Pharmacy dashboard, select your name at the top of the page. You will see a pop up with 3 options:
   
   

• Add a child: Select option to “Add a child.” Follow the prompts. Once their profile is created, you'll be able to manage and place orders for your child’s prescriptions.
   

• Add a caregiver: Select option to “Invite someone to help with your meds.” Enter your trusted person’s name and mobile number. They will receive an invitation via text message. If you are the caregiver of another adult, you can help them set up an Amazon Pharmacy account. Then have them invite you to help manage their medications. 
   

• Add an adult family member: Select option to “Switch profiles.” Your family member can select “sign up as someone new” to create their own account.

Your Amazon Pharmacy account is private and secure.

  Your PHI (protected health information), including your medication orders, are not displayed in other family members’ Amazon Pharmacy profiles or within the Amazon retail shopping experience

  Medications are not shipped until you approve the payment method, preventing unwanted charges or deliveries.
   

• Packaging safety

  Amazon regularly tests and reviews packaging to ensure that medication deliveries are safe. This testing takes place across all seasons to test both high and low temperatures. Amazon’s packaging and cold chain program follows the guidelines and standards established by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP).

You can view medication pricing on your Amazon Pharmacy dashboard, before you place your order. Through Blue Shield’s Price Check My Rx tool, you can compare the costs of your medications at other pharmacies to decide which option is right for you.

The Amazon Pharmacy discount program gives Blue Shield members the option of paying a discounted price for certain prescriptions when they pay out of pocket instead of using their health plan coverage. This gives members flexibility in finding the lowest cost option.

Terms and restrictions for the discount program will apply.

Note that if you choose not to use your Blue Shield health plan coverage, your costs will not apply toward your plan's annual prescription benefit deductible/maximum or maximum out-of-pocket costs.
