Memorandums of understanding and agreement (MOUs and MOAs)
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) requires Medi-Cal Managed Care Plans (MCPs), local government agencies, and health departments to enter into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) or memorandum of agreement (MOA). The MOU or MOA is a binding, enforceable contract. It outlines the duties of each party. It also outlines how the parties work together. The parties must work together to direct and manage access to medically necessary care for Medi-Cal members. See below for the current MOUs and MOAs.
MOUs or MOAs are updated as needed or required by Medi-Cal. Contact the Blue Shield Promise Health Plan Medi-Cal Account Management team at BSCPHPMediCal@blueshieldca.com to learn more.
